This tip is all about making a "Teacher Toolbox" like you have seen all over the web! I know I LOVE mine!!! I loved my school one so much I made one for my home office! You will LOVE it, too! Now, when someone needs a paperclip or rubber band, they don't ask anymore ... they just grab what they need!
It is such a time saver in so many ways, Yahoo!
One of the things you need to decide is how you want it to work for you and how many drawers you think you will use.
At school I went for the larger 39 drawer size but when I made the one for my home office I chose a smaller 22 drawer version!
Here is the one I made a couple of years ago & I still use it today:
Here is the one I have at home. I LOVE it!!!
Here are the ones that I found at Lowes.
The price difference is not that HUGE ... right around $3.
If you like the color you do not even have to spray them!
Next, You want to pick out a theme that is right for you or have one custom created!
Here are some themes we have created. We also make custom designs!

I chose a new design for my mom's toolbox!
I started painting my mom's with a color she has in her office. I did two coats and a clear coat on top. A 12 oz. can of paint covered this toolbox size with some left over for another project! (Ideas churning!)
Then I printed, cut out, and laminated the pieces. It is hard to tell in the pictures but the background is a light shade of burlap.
After that, I hot glued them all on. I glue them to the front because the drawers on the box I got were kinda cloudy and I wanted the labels to show up well.
I really hope she likes it!
Have you made a toolbox, yet?
You can never go wrong with a toolbox. Wow at all the options you have!

I LOVE them! They help me keep all those little things organized! I love that we can personalize them for others, too!

My goal is to make a mailbox in the next 2 weeks before school starts back up in August. Yours look great, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your mailbox! I had one years ago ... I wonder if it is still in the garage. I might have to dig it out!

This would make a great gift for a new teacher! I have one in my classroom, and I love it. Might have to talk to my team when they hire our new teammate...

I haven't made a tool box...yet! But I do have one on order from Amazon and it should come any day! Does the hot glue work well for the tags? Do you laminate them?

Pam,
DeleteYou are going to have so much fun setting it up! Hot glue is great but you could either put the labels inside the drawers or use clear packaging tape. I do laminate mine. I planned it to where I used every drawer I had.
Email me if you have any other questions!
Have fun!
Karen
I haven't made one yet. My school is under construction so I am waiting to see what will be built in before deciding on organizational strategies!

Well, it is probably very naive but my principal said something about having built in drawers. I am hoping!
