Creating a VIP Table!

Hello, Friend!
Have you ever thought about creating a V.I.P. table in your classroom?
V.I.P. Table by Planet Happy Smiles
If you have, GO FOR IT!
I really feel like you won't regret it.

Before starting I did some planning ...
*Where can I put a spot like this in my room?
*What do I want the table to look like?
*What materials do I have that I can use?
*How many kids can sit there?
*What rules will we establish?
*Who will I choose to go first?
*How do I explain it to my parents?

This is what I came up with:
I call it ...
V.I.P. Table by Planet Happy Smiles
V.I.P.: "Very Inspiring Person" Table
#viptable #studentviptable

Like I told all of my students ... "You are all important to me and to our classroom. I am going to choose those people who inspire us."

We then made an anchor chart of all of the things that inspire us.

Here is how it works in my room:
I choose two children per day and they don't know who until they arrive in the morning. The children are so excited to rush into class and see who gets to sit the table.

On the table, there are certificates with the V.I.P. names on them and why they were chosen. They get to take them home at the end of the day.

The V.I.P. students are the only ones allowed to use the materials on the table. I add materials to the table to keep it fresh.

Here are a couple of V.I.P students wearing the hats! They can also choose a writing buddy from the basket to sit with for the day!

I hope you LOVE my area and give this a try.

Thanks so much to Rachel of The Tattooed Teacher for sharing your space and other spaces with us!
We hope this inspires you to make one, too!

Oviparous Animals ~ What Hatches from an Egg? Poetry, Writing & Science

Oviparous Animals ~ What Hatches from an Egg? Poetry, Writing & Science
Hello Friend!
Thank you so much for stopping by our blog!  We would love for you to join our email list to get info on upcoming freebies and fun!
Do you LOVE teaching students about different science concepts in a variety of subject areas?
We do, too!

This lesson is all about oviparous animals!
The kids love using that BIG word!

Here is one of the poems we wrote to use with this unit of study:
The Little Egg
The cool thing we have done with many of our poems is make them interactive by using Velcro. The kids can change out the different oviparous animals and read the "new" poem.

Here is a closer picture of how we store the different animals and words:

This is our sweet student illustrating his own poem to add to his poetry notebook.  The students get to choose the animal they want to illustrate for their own book!

Our students really did a great job sorting, reading, and using the new vocabulary in their writing!

Another activity we love to add to our science station is a lift-the-flap page. You can have the students illustrate under the flaps. Younger students can cut out pictures or use stickers.

This activity is a great writing extension and a very eye catching bulletin board.  Even the "BIG" kids want to stop, open them up, and read them!

The two kiddos below are enjoying working on this project in the classroom.

Here is a very simple fold up book your kids can make as another extension or as a review of this concept.

Currently ~ April 1st!

Hello! We are so HAPPY you are stopping by!
Can you believe today is the 1st day of April?
Oh Boy It's Farley

Listening To:  Songs I LOVE on YouTube!  I have made a variety of libraries of songs I love to listen to!  I also have list of curriculum videos in a variety of libraries, too!  I use them all the time.  My song list I am listening to right now is my "Get You Moving" mix if songs. It sometimes helps me get more things done.

Loving: Today is FriYAY!  I love my class but I am ready for some quality family time!

Thinking: It is 9:30 and I am ready to lay in bed, watch some Netflix & take a snooze!

Wanting:  I want to do something with my kiddos ... Got any ideas?

Needing: To stop adding so many things to my "To Do" lists.

Whatever: I can't wait to start reading in our Book Clubs next week! We all ordered the same book from +Scholastic and we will start working on this book together.  We have been practicing in smaller groups for a few weeks!  So exciting!

We hope you have a very HAPPY weekend!
